Steve grew up on a Century Farm just south of Grinnell. He enjoyed farm life working alongside his dad and grandpa in the fields or with livestock, mostly hogs and horses. Steve then earned a Communications degree from the University of Iowa and met his wife, Amy. They settled in eastern Iowa raising four children with one still at home.
