This situation involves a landlord-tenant matter and does not relate to any tenant representation on my part. I was never the tenant's agent, nor did I have any tenant/buyer agency relationship with the individual. During the tenancy, there were several violations of the lease agreement, including unauthorized painting of multiple rooms in dark colors, burns to wood flooring, significant wall damage followed by substandard repairs, and even tampering with the doorbell wiring. These issues required substantial remediation. Many of the maintenance concerns raised by the tenant were routine and addressed reasonably. However, the tenant often interacted with landlords and contractors in a rude and uncooperative manner, resulting in some contractors refusing to return to the property. It’s worth noting that the tenant became upset after we declined their request to renew the lease for a third year. While we understand their disappointment, the decision was made based on a pattern of behavior. At no point was the tenant’s safety or well-being compromised. For example, while the tenant demanded the replacement of the home’s power system due to utility company fluctuations, this was neither required nor reasonable. There was no indication of actual habitability issues as defined by law. It’s unfortunate when tenants respond to non-renewal decisions with negative public reviews. However, I stand by the decision not to extend the lease, and I believe this response provides important context to the situation.
