Chuck Kennedy was born, and grew up, in Crockett, Texas. After graduating from Crockett High School, he served in Viet Nam with United States Army Special Forces ("the Green Berets") and attended, and graduated from, the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
