Issi Romem is formerly the chief economist of Trulia. He is currently Senior Director of Housing & Urban Economics at Zillow, as well as a fellow at the Terner Center for Housing Innovation at the University of California, Berkeley. His research around metropolitan growth patterns, construction trends and housing has been featured in major publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and more. He regularly appears as a spokesperson for Zillow Group at conferences and on screen. Issi joined Zillow Group in January 2019 as the chief economist of Trulia, and prior to that he served as the chief economist at BuildZoom. He has also advised the Rentonomics team at Apartment List, and worked as an economist at OnPoint Analytics and at the Bay Area Council. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (both magna cum laude), and he earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, where he has since taught as an adjunct professor.
