April Case-Shiller Forecast: Slower National Growth, Faster Growth in 10 & 20-City Indices

Growth in the smaller, more coastal 10- and 20-city S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices in March was slightly stronger than expected, while growth in the larger U.S. national index came in slightly below expectations. Looking ahead, Zillow's April Case-Shiller forecast calls for another somewhat mixed bag, with annual growth in the 10- and 20-city indices picking up while national growth slows a bit.

February Case-Shiller Forecast: More of the Same, But Slightly Slower

The January Case-Shiller indices grew at the exact same annual pace as December. Looking ahead, expect all three February Case-Shiller indices to show similar but slightly slower slower growth, with the 10-City Composite Index expected to register sub-5 percent annual growth for the first time in months, according to Zillow's February Case-Shiller forecast.

January Case-Shiller Forecast: Modestly Slower Growth Expected

The December Case-Shiller indices grew at a pace in line with prior months, with all three headline indices showing annual appreciation above 5 percent per year. Zillow expects all three January Case-Shiller indices to show slower growth, with the 10-City Composite Index expected to register sub-5 percent annual growth for the first time in months.

December Case-Shiller: Steady As She Goes

This morning, all three of the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices showed annual home price growth above 5 percent in December. The December Case-Shiller indices grew at a pace very similar to that recorded in November.
