Room details
We are looking for someone to take over the basement room in our 4-bedroom, 2.5 bath house in Petworth. The room is attached to the upper floors and includes a full bath and a separate entrance leading to one of two parking spots for the house, which would be yours should you have a car. Kitchen and half-bath are on the first floor, and laundry is on the second floor. There are front and back porches and a large backyard with a fire pit.
The house is a fifteen-minute walk or five-minute bus ride to Georgia Ave-Petworth Metro Station. The C75 bus stop is a quick walk from the front door, with Georgia Ave buses only a couple blocks away. Safeway, Yes! Organic Market, the neighborhood library, and Upshur Street (restaurants, Farmer's Market) are a short distance away. During PorchFest there's music everywhere, and there's a great Halloween event in the neighborhood every year. It's a safe and lovely neighborhood, and draws lots of families and dog-walking.
The rent for the room is $1250 a month, deposit is $1250, and utilities run about $100 a month. Move-in date between now and Nov 1st is ideal. The lease would run from the date of move-in until September 30, 2027. The application/credit check is $30.
You would be living with three women and two cats. Other pets may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. We're friends, but live our own lives and clean up after ourselves, and we're looking for someone similar. Here's the lineup!
-Hello! I'm Caroline, and I am a research assistant in the DC policy space. When I am not working, I enjoy gardening, crochet, cooking, D&D, and traipsing around DC with friends.
-Hi, I'm Hannah! I'm 27 and work in retail. I am on the quiet side, introverted but enjoy having people to live with. I enjoy baking, cooking, reading, being in nature, and recently rediscovered my love of sewing. I moved to the DC area 8 years ago from Wisconsin, so all I ask is the Packer slander be kept to a minimum.
-Hi! I'm Clarissa. I'm originally from Kentucky. I'm a genealogist and therefore a bit of a nerd. I enjoy reading, writing (currently working on both fiction and non-fiction), physical media, puzzles, gardening, and randomly doing touristy things. I also have two medium/long-haired cats: Waverly, a gorgeous, aloof princess who loves scritches, and John Henry, a 17-pound baby and a ball of love, chaos, and anxiety who will hide from you for a couple days at first and then be your best friend forever. They are as well-behaved as they can be, being cats, and they don't eat people food.
