    This prospective tenant was interested in one of our leases, but she was locked into her current lease for a few more months. She asked if she could start a lease on our property, but not for a few months. I told her that the home was vacant and the landlord was paying a mortgage on it, so they could not afford to wait that long before collecting rent. She then requested to start the lease earlier but at a reduced rental rate because of the cost associated with breaking her current lease. I told her that was also not going to work as the landlord was firm on their price. She became upset about the situation, continued arguing and had her father call to complain as well. I told them that the fact that they were locked into an existing lease was not the landlord’s fault nor our problem. They were asking the landlord to bear the brunt of their financial burden. I certainly wish it could have worked out, but their situation was not going to work for this landlord.
