The earliest part of the structure was standing at the time of the death of its earliest-known owner, Julien Poydras, in 1824, and an addition was made to the west about 1835. Owned by a succession of families, including the Guerins for most of its history, the house was completely restored in 1992 by Sara and Kevin Gummow. It was sold to the current owner in 2002. In that time, they had a full-house generator and a closed-back lower porch with central AC and heat. It has been kept in pristine condition to this day. In its landscaped setting overlooking False River, it retains the ambiance of early Louisiana while adapted to the comfort and accessibility of modern life.
