Vinny was definitely the agent we needed. He has experience as a contractor and home inspector as well, and both of those backgrounds were really useful. My wife and I were looking to buy a fixer-upper starter home, and he helped us figure out what kinds of things were and were not possible with all the homes we looked at.
The house we ended up making an offer on (and were able to purchase eventually) had a lot of things that needed to be repaired before sale could proceed. Things required by the state (there was some oil contamination from a leaky tank), the city (various maintenance issues) and even our lenders (they required that a detached garage be straightened). Despite the sale being "as is", Vinny got the seller to take care of the lions share of the fixes that were needed (there's no way we could have afforded all of it otherwise). Some of the things that we took care of, as the buyer, he even came by and helped out with labor and lending me some tools!
