You called & stated your income was less than the monthly rent of $1250 month. Why would you call on a property that is more than your income? You must make $3750 a mo., three times the rental rate. You stated you were a Realtor in the past. You should already know what you need to make to qualify. You find it rude, because I told you the qualifications that the owner requires. Would you rather I have you apply, charge you $50 non-refundable fee & do a credit check? I speak the truth! Some people do get mad when they hear no you do not qualify.

I appreciate the fact that you referenced the questions that I asked are "part of my job". As a property manager, I work for the owner of the property. We have a list of questions that are asked to confirm if the potential tenant meets the qualifications. I do not make the decision on the applications, the owners do, and if you don't meet the qualifications. I would not want someone to apply for the property, incur an application(s) fees of which is non-refundable and have a credit inquiry. As well, there seems to be some confusion in regards to representation. Not all agents represent tenants or will offer a dual representation of a landlord & tenant. If you don't meet the qualifications to rent a property. How would an agent help you find another rental property? That doesn't make sense! I don't understand how being honest would be considered rude. I don't have any control over another person and their qualifications.

It is unfortunate that you would be upset w/ me or the company set policies & minimum income requirements to qualify for one of our managed rental properties. We do not give out information on the rental property or set an appointment to show it/ unless you qualify. Why would you want to discuss a property that you don’t qualify for? Wouldn’t you rather I tell you on the phone for free, that you don’t meet the income requirements, than to take your application fee and then tell you, you don’t qualify? I have always thought honesty is the best policy! I appreciate your review & it just reiterates to our owners/landlords that we are pre-qualifying potential tenants. We are doing what the owners hired us to do & protecting their best interest. Thank you, Amy Cooper
