Peter helped us locate, buy, and settle into a vacation home of our dreams after many months of searching. Peter knew every neighborhood on the island. Peter wants you to realize your dream and truly cares about finding the right home for you and your family. It doesn’t matter how long the search lasts because Peter is invested in you as a person…not a real estate transaction.

His extensive knowledge of real estate on Martha’s Vineyard is invaluable along with his archives on property history and transactions. You will see only houses that fit the criteria you set and get a true insider’s opinion of the positives and negatives of each property. There are no sales pitches or pressure of any sort when you work with Peter and he helps educate you so you become a smarter and more informed buyer regardless of your budget.

Going the extra mile….How about arranging phone calls with potential neighbors so you could speak with them directly to get more details about the immediate neighborhood..…OR….meeting with multiple engineers at a property site (on my behalf) so I didn’t have to make the trip out to the island. Attention like that is priceless to a client.

I just can’t say enough about the level of service you get with Peter. It’s WAY beyond what I’ve ever experienced. It’s not just the service that he provides you but his vast knowledge of the island, its communities, and it’s people.

All serious buyers, please do yourself a favor and give Peter a call. Buying a home on Martha’s Vineyard is a large investment and you as a buyer deserve to be represented and have your interests looked after.

Bought a home in 2008.
I first met Peter through his website and newsletter where I immediately noted his market knowledge. After contacting Peter, it was his unique and honest perspective on Marthas Vineyard that impressed me most. It is clear that Peter loves the Island and educates his clients on all aspects of life and community on Marthas Vineyard.

He is a true professional and when engaged, you become a productive team with a shared vision that leads to an excellent result!

Even though we purchased our summer home on Marthas Vineyard over 2 years ago, I still eagerly read Peters blog and follow his picks and opinions. Peter is a rare resource in the real estate profession.

I definitely recommend Peter as the best agent to represent a buyer on Marthas Vineyard!

Bought a Single Family home in 2010 for approximately $500K in West Tisbury, MA.
I have nothing but good things to say about Peter. He took the time to understand what I wanted and went out and found it. He guided me through bidding, providing local knowledge of Island personalities and peculiarities that I would have never known. He got me a price that shocked the neighbors. And after all that, he helped me with finding local contractors as I settled into the new house.

Bought a Single Family home in 2009 for approximately $700K in Edgartown, MA.
We had been "recreationally" shopping the Vineyard for homes every summer for 10 years and thought we knew the place. In 2008, we contacted Peter after reading about his broker services. He visited us at our rental and listened patiently to our wishes and expectations for purchasing a second home over the next 5 years. Of course, everything we wanted was beyond our price. The following summer, we called him with a list of prospective properties that interested us. He immediately gave us the low down on each one, arranged showings and suggested one that we had not noticed. It was nothing like anything we had ever seen and it was perfect for our needs. Peter was invaluable is assisting us with the negotiation and tempering our enthusiasm. He was very candid about pointing out the negatives as well as the positives of each home we looked at. And we discovered that there was a LOT about MV that we did not know. We bought the home and have enjoyed it immensely, years ahead of our timetable - with no unpleasant surprises. I can't imagine why anyone, given the option, would not use the services of a broker, especially one as professional, honest and thorough as Peter. We have bought several homes over the past 30 years and never felt as comfortable and informed about any of those purchases as we have with this one. We endorse him enthusiastically.

Bought a Single Family home in 2007 for approximately $1.775M in Chilmark, MA.
My wife and I set about finding a representative – we had spent hours pouring over the real estate freebie guide that resembles a phone directory and too many hours on the web looking at sites and listings. It was during one of these research journeys that we looked at the SplitRock Real Estate website, we were impressed. We had never heard of a buyers agent before but it makes perfect sense to us – I mean what realtor that you know of has pictures of the water heater and breaker box that he’s going to send you in an e-mail.

We made a list of our requirements – some essential, some wishes. We arranged to talk with Peter over the phone and see if we thought he was as good as his website (some times people can have a wonderful website but be as thick as two short planks and be completely wrong for your needs) Anyway we talked to him and arranged to meet. In the meantime he sent us e-mails of houses that he thought we may be interested in because of our previous discussions along with tons and tons of pictures to help narrow down our list. We scheduled 2 days of viewing – some we had requested to see and that Peter agreed with and some that Peter suggested and also some that we wanted to see that Peter didn’t think were what we needed but took us anyway just to prove his point.

We found a house, Peter helped us organize an inspection, a very thorough inspection. Lawyers, electricians, engineers, organized the Radon test and then basically fought (I mean negotiated with) the seller to the end to get everything corrected and adjusted. Peter took as much time/effort and care as he would if it was going to be his house. Throughout the process he made sure that we were informed of the progress or at times lack of it. If we ever buy another home on the Island we would use Peter again in a heartbeat. If we ever buy a home anywhere else we would only ever use an exclusive buyer’s agent.

Hard working, knowledgable, straightforward, cost-effective, zero b.s., and equally informed when talking about highest end of market, middle of market, or budget end of market. It seems there is hardly a property on the island he doesn't know very well, including its 50-year history of prior owners, pricing, zoning, maintenance, and taxes. If he doesn't know he looks it up. And he loves the island. Holy Cow, what else could one hope for when buying house on Martha's Vineyard.
