Making a big life decision without any information or research is risky. Heck, even a small life decision like buying a new bed can keep me up past midnight, endlessly scrolling through mattress stats and reviews. The last thing I want is a California King stuck in my stairwell because I forgot to check the dimensions of the box spring.

In the high stakes world of real estate, the decision to buy, sell, or finance a home is monumental. Naturally, home buyers and sellers have an immense appetite for research. They’re hungry for information, so they turn to websites like Zillow to get their fix. Millions of visitors consume Zillow real estate data every month — data like market trends, home sizes, past sales history, and of course the Zestimate.

But did you know that you (or your Web developer) can pull these statistics from Zillow and display them directly on your website? In essence, you can create a mini real estate portal to keep visitors on your own pages.

Without getting too technical, here’s how it works. By using a data sharing tool called the Zillow API Network, your website can pull information from Zillow and serve it up for your visitors. The Zillow APIs feed your website a wealth of compelling local content, keeping it fresh and updated. Best of all, the content keeps visitors around longer and makes them return again and again. In short, you can harness the brains of Zillow’s data and economics experts to build traffic to your website and grow your business.

Home and local market information

For example, integrating the Property Details and Home Valuation APIs on your website lets visitors search and view robust home data on over 100 million homes across the U.S. The APIs allow buyers and sellers to find details such as a home’s recent transactions, tax history, property attributes, comparable home sales, Zestimate, and Rent Zestimate®.

With the Neighborhood Information API, you can build a lookup tool that displays area trends and statistics such as median list price, affordability, average tax rates, and percentage of flipped homes. Visitors can search for neighborhoods, ZIP codes, cities or states directly from your site. Zillow also provides a database of nearly 7,000 neighborhood boundaries in the largest cities in the U.S.

Mortgage information

Clients who need help figuring out their finances often turn to the Internet for resources. For agents and lenders alike, the Mortgage API can turn a website into an affordability education center. Web developers can use the API to build mortgage search tools that deliver real-time results. These results can display data like estimated monthly payments for specific loan amounts. The API also includes Zillow Mortgages data on current and previous week mortgage rates by loan type.

Reviews

Buyers and sellers gravitate toward websites and profiles that feature client testimonials and ratings. I’ve heard countless stories from top agents and lenders who attribute their business growth to their Zillow reviews. Zillow’s more than of local agents and lenders are all accessible through the Zillow Reviews API. The API helps Web developers build relevant content and display reviews for agent and lender profiles and directories. It can play a key role in helping consumers find the best agent or lender to fit their needs.

With the Zillow API Network, the goal of empowering consumers with information stretches far beyond the walls of Zillow’s website and mobile apps. The APIs share Zillow real estate data with Web developers and partner websites to help boost their local content, traffic, and business.

Before diving in, you (or your Web developer) will want to follow the 'Get Started' instructions. The Zillow API is free, but we require that partner websites follow Zillow’s branding and display requirements in addition to the API terms of use.
